Covid-19 pushes 270 million people into hunger

Millions of more people are likely to go hungry this year because of the coronavirus crisis, the World Food Programme (WFP), a Rome-based UN agency, said Monday, as it announced plans for a massive boost to its global aid operation so it can reach them. In an alert, WFP head David Beasley said that new estimates show that 270 million people face food insecurity by the end of this year.

European countries opt Smart Lockdown to combat COVID-19

Many countries of Europe are opting for smart or selective lockdowns. to fight against  coronavirus pandemic without imperiling the economy and pushing huge masses into margins of unemployment, hunger and poverty. This approach is vehemently and consistently advocated by Pakistani prime Minister Imran Khan. According to a report of Ferdinando Giugliano, a renowned columnist on the European economics for the ‘Bloomberg View’, said the European Union countries are experimenting with new ways of dealing with the coronavirus. Germany, Portugal and Italy have all enforced selective or “smart” lockdowns, shutting down smaller regions in response to new outbreaks as opposed to bringing their entire countries to a halt. This approach is the only hope of returning to a more normal life as we wait for a vaccine.

Hajj inquiry number 051-9205696; 051- 9216980-82 A total of 86,765 intending pilgrims were picked through general balloting from out of 149,295 applicants. A total 179,210 Pakistanis were going to perform hajj this year including 107,526 under government scheme and 71,684 under private scheme.

More than 92000 Covid-19 patients recovered in Pakistan

Pa kistan's Covid-19 recoveries have crossed 92,000 out of 203,000 confirmed cases   according to the government's database for Covid-19 ,  5,718 people recovered from the virus in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of   recoveries to 92,624 and more than 4100 died.   

Philippino workers stranded abroad being repatriated

   Philippine government has repatriated more than 56,000 of its nationals, most of whom were left jobless abroad due to the global Covid-19 emergency since    March 22, & almost  38,000 more are expected to return in the coming weeks.  167,000 Filipino workers are currently stranded in their host countries, only   88,000 of them are in Saudi Arabia.  Funds for the repatriation of overseas Filipino workers affected by the COVID-19 pandemic may run out by the end of August, officials said in Manila

All hospitals in Abu Dhabi's Al Dhafrah region are now free of Covid-19 cases.    the Covid-free healthcare facilities in Al Dhafra are: Madinat Zayed, Ghayathi, Dalma, Al Sila, Al Marfa, Liwa and Ruwais hospitals.,  Abu Dhabi's Department of Health announced that Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City and Al Ain's Tawam Hospital had discharged their last Covid-19 patients yesterday.  The Adnec field hospital and Mediclinic facilities were also declared Covid-free last week.

17 New Covid-19 case in China

T he Beijing Health Commission said  yesterday  that 17 new locally transmitted COVID- 19 cases were recorded, raising total infected to 297 since June 11, when the first case from Beijing’s market cluster was detected. Out of total 17 cases, 15 were reported in Fengtai districts , four asymptomatic cases were also registered in the Chinese capital. In addition, four cases were reported in Guangdong, Shanghai and Gansu, all from overseas. According to a report released by the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the ongoing novel coronavirus cluster in Beijing was not caused by animals.

Pakistan re-open Kartarpur Corridor from 29th June

  Pakistan going to reopen the Kartarpur Corridor by June 29, after it was temporarily closed on March 16 this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It was announced by Pakistani government. Pakistan has also conveyed to the Indian side to reopen Kartarpur Corridor on the said date on the occasion of the death anniversary of Maharaja Ranjeet Singh, Foreign Office Spokesperson said in a statement.  The Kartarpur Corridor was inaugurated on November 9, 2019 by Pskistani Prime Minister Imran Khan. The opening of the Corridor on the eve of the 550th Birth Anniversary of Baba Guru Nanak.

114 year old Ethiopian man recovered from Covid-19

  114 years Ethiopian man defeated  the coronovirus and recovered from Covid-19 one of     the doctor who treated him said " incredible". Aba Tilahun Woldemichael's family says he is 114, which would make him the world's oldest man.  People over the age of 80 are considered to be among the most vulnerable if they catch the virus. The centenarian, who is an Ethiopian Orthodox Christian monk, is now being looked after at home by his grandson.

Prime Minister of Pakistan  Imran Khan is scheduled to visit Muzaffarbad today mainly to launch Ehsaas Emergency Cash Program for around 138, 275 families living along the Line of Control (LoC). On the prime minister’s directive, around 138, 275 families of 219 villages living along LoC had been entitled for the emergency cash assistance of Rs 12,000 to be given to the women of the said households. The relief had been granted to the families as they lived under a constant risk of unprovoked firing by the Indian occupation forces and had suffered the losses of both lives and properties.

Covid-19 cases will reach 10 million by next week

The World Health Organization (WHO) chief, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus,  expecting  coronavirus cases to reach 10 millions by next week. Tender in a news briefing in Geneva, backed Saudi Arabia’s decision to ban pilgrims from abroad from attending the annual Hajj pilgrimage to help limit the spread of the deadly disease. He said WHO supporting many countries in dealing with difficulties obtaining oxygen concentration, devices that boost the flow of oxygen to support the breathing of COVID-19 sufferers. Tedros said that more than 9.1 million cases of COVID-19 have been reported so far and more than 470,000 deaths.  

3 persons arrest in Iran to sale infant through social media

  Three  three were arrested for allegedly trying to sell two infants on Facebook owned social networking site, Instagram in Iran. Tehran’s police chief, Brig-Gen Hossein Rahimi revealed that the infants being sold were a 20 day old and two months old in age .   Brig-Gen Rahimi told the media that the police was alerted on the matter when controversial ads showing babies up for sale started popping up on Instagram feeds and were subsequently reported.

Etihad Airways suspend Flight operation from Pakistan

  Etihad Airways is the third airline of the UAE after Fly Dubai and Emirates to have temporarily suspended its flight operation for outbound passengers Etihad Airways resumed its two weekly flights from Karachi and Lahore on June 13 after a gap of 55 days and was planning to operate flights from Islamabad. The airline earlier suspended flights to Pakistan on March 21 to contain the spread of coronavirus.

Chinese company donate 5 Industrial UAV to fight against locust attack

A leading Chinese sci-tech enterprise has donated five industrial UAVs to Pakistan’s National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to assist Pakistan in the fight against the pandemic and locust attack.  Chairman of Board of Sunwin Intelligent Co., Ltd. Dr. Saif AL Dhaheri spokesmen for National Crisis & Emergency Management Authority (NCEMA), said: "We have sterilized all public facilities, and will continue to do so. Childern under 12 years will be allowed at malls and restaurants across the UAE,  Dubai had on June 18 lifted movement restrictions on the elderly and children under 12 years of age. With the latest announcement, the movement restrictions on children have been lifted across the emirates.   The UAE has completed its national sterilisation programme and lifted movement restrictions effective Wednesday. This means residents can travel freely across the country any time of the day.

Emirates Airlines suspend flight operation from Pakistan

    Emirates Airlines has temporarily suspend passenger services from Pakistan, from June 24.  Emirates  co-coordinating closely with the various authorities and will review and implement any required additional measures to satisfy all parties before we resume services from Pakistan.   Reports on Tuesday claimed that the coronavirus cases were all returnees from Pakistan. Emirates  remain committed to serving its customers in Pakistan and  resume services as soon as possible.  Emirates will continue to operate repatriation flights into Pakistan as per the announced schedule, and operate cargo services that support the trade and movement of goods between Pakistan, UAE.

  The Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) Air Bus 320  crashed  on a crowded residential area  of Karachi near Airport on May 22 in that incident 97 passengers including Pilot and crew members of plane died.   Both pilot and Air Traffic controller did not follow the standard rules, the plane was 100% fit for flying and there was no technical fault, at the time of Landing at Karachi Airport the pilot was discussing Coronovirus situation in the country Mr. Ghulam   Sarwar Khan, Federal Aviation Minister told the National Assembly of Pakistan.   JE 

North Macedonia Police detained 64 Bangladeshi

  N orth Macedonia Police detained at least 64 Bangladeshi migrants on a highway near North Macedonia’s border with Greece, They were trying to enter Macedonia illegally by a Truck. The truck’s driver also arrested during the inspection near Strumica, in the country’s southeast, late Monday, said North Macedonia’s police in a statement on Tuesday. The migrants transferred to a holding site in the border town of Gevgelija
